The Chroma Mental Health Collective (Chroma) is a collaborative of LGBTQ+ mental health professionals gathered to discuss and coordinate a community-driven approach to addressing mental health disparities faced by individuals who identify as gender or sexual minorities in Middle Tennessee. Gaining traction and support Chroma was moving an initial start-up into its next phase of growth. At this crucial stage in organizational develop, the first leader (supported by a fellowship) was exiting out of the organization, and Chroma members sought clarity and direction to navigate this transition.

Our approach
Using a modified systems change approach to honor Chroma as a collaborative entity as well as their stage in the organizational life cycle, the Elevate Consulting team partnered with Chroma leadership to co-create a shared vision and theory of change to better align all collaborative members and chart the next phase of organizational development.
In tandem with the Chroma leadership team, the Elevate team aligned outputs from the landscape scan with the collaborative’s organizational chart of governance, working groups, and infrastructure to identify priorities and gaps for succession planning.
The Elevate team led a generative discussion with Chroma leadership on future needs and sustainable growth strategies, resulting in a detailed succession plan.
